Founder & Principal

Stephen Carson, Founder and Principal of Carson Equities, possesses an experienced and diversified professional real estate background. Initially practicing law in commercial real estate and bankruptcy litigation, Stephen founded Carson Equities in 2001. Since then, he has orchestrated over $850+M in acquisitions and dispositions across the Midwest and Southeast, including 5,000+ apartment units, $200+M of mixed-use developments and $150+M of secured loan purchases from prominent financial institutions. Leading a dedicated team of professionals, Stephen emphasizes identifying unique, undervalued opportunities and achieving both short and long-term results. Stephen's investment philosophy centers on creating value through organized, strategic, and immediate actions with limited use of debt. Committed to fostering strong, long-term business partnerships, Stephen and his associates leverage their opportunistic and strategic investment approach to navigate a diversified real estate platform. Throughout his career, Stephen has been a trusted partner for national and regional companies, engaging in transactions with entities such as Pulte Homes, Friedman Real Estate Group, Oakland University, Baker College, Wayne County Economic Development Authority, Citigroup, Flagstar Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Comerica, Och-Ziff Capital Management, and Moelis & Company. Stephen is an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan and serves as a court-appointed receiver in real estate matters in Oakland County Michigan Circuit Court. Stephen is a licensed real estate broker and Associate Broker of Carson Equities. Stephen received his AB from Michigan State University and a JD from the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law.

Alex is Acquisition Director at Carson Equities, responsible for sourcing and underwriting investment opportunities. Prior to joining Carson Equities, Alex held real estate focused positions with national and regional real estate investment companies, including Marquette Companies, The Habitat Company, Bedrock Detroit and, Elia Group. While at Bedrock Detroit, Alex was a member of the Corporate Development team where he focused on investing in multifamily and mixed-use development in the Detroit Central Business District which included a pipeline of over $1 billion in total investments and over 1,000 multifamily units. Prior to joining Bedrock Detroit, Alex worked in Chicago completing multifamily acquisition and development projects at The Habitat Company and Marquette Companies. At The Habitat Company, Alex was part of a team that oversaw the completion of approximately $390 million in multifamily transactions, including $175 million in acquisitions, $125 million in dispositions, and $90 million in financing activity. At Marquette Companies, Alex was part of a team that completed more than $800 million in multifamily transactions, including $250 million in development, $270 million in acquisitions, $30 million in financing, and $250 million in dispositions. Alex graduated from Miami University, Farmer School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
